- International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
- Millennium Ecosystem Assessment - UN and others join in data gathering portal.

- United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF).
- United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD).
- United Nations Development Programme - publishes the Human Development Report (online) dealing with standards of living etc.
- United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
- United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) - key site for environmental data (but see also this site for serious data gathering). Recently added, section for academics (databases, maps etc.) and Earthwatch. For conventions, try here.
- United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) - see also the global warming website page.
- United Nations Foundation - set up to distribute donations. A good example of the UN in action with current issues highlighted, including the environment.
- United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
- UN - Human Settlements Programme (UN-HABITAT). Study of global settlements and housing.
- United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) - major population projections published yearly. See also, their development portal and a database series of country profiles.

- World Bank Group - publishes the World Bank Development Report which contains the most widely cited global data (mainly economic but also social and environmental).
